Privacy policy
ClipSpeak reads what you copy so it can speak it. That’s a position of trust, so this policy is short, plain, and absolute: your data never leaves your Mac.
What we collect
Nothing. ClipSpeak has no servers, no accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics. We do not collect, receive, or see your copied text, your usage, your device details, or anything else.
Network access
ClipSpeak makes no network calls. Speech is generated by Apple’s voices built into macOS, entirely on your Mac. It works identically with Wi-Fi turned off.
Your copy history
The history panel stores your copied snippets in a local file on your Mac, so you can search them and replay them aloud. That file never syncs anywhere and is yours to clear: delete individual items or the entire history at any time from within the app. Deleting the app deletes the history with it.
Passwords and sensitive copies
When a password manager (or any app) marks a copy as confidential or transient, ClipSpeak ignores it completely: it is never spoken and never written to history.
Permissions ClipSpeak asks for
Recent versions of macOS alert you when an app reads the pasteboard. Reading what you copy is ClipSpeak’s entire purpose — it needs that access to work, and what it reads stays on-device, as described above.
Analytics and tracking
None. No analytics SDKs, no crash reporters that upload data, no advertising identifiers, no cookies. If Apple’s App Store shares aggregate, anonymized install statistics with us, that is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not by anything ClipSpeak does.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the change will be posted on this page with a date. Since ClipSpeak’s design makes data collection impossible, we don’t expect it to change in spirit.
